How 2-player mode works
Press the 2 players switch above the pitch. Player 1 keeps A, D, W and S on the left side of the keyboard; Player 2 gets the arrow keys and Down to kick. Both ragdolls spawn immediately and the match starts on the first kick.
Because it is local, there is no lag, no matchmaking and no waiting for a friend to accept anything. It is the same screen, the same pitch, and the same ridiculous physics for both of you.
Controls for both players
The layout is deliberately split so two people can share a laptop without bumping hands. Everything Player 1 needs is on the left, everything Player 2 needs is on the right.
- Player 1 — A / D to run, W to jump, S to kick
- Player 2 — Left / Right to run, Up to jump, Down to kick
- R — restart the match (either player can press it)
- Player switch — flip back to 1 player against the CPU
Five house rules for a fair 1v1
Ragdoll football has no referee, so agree on a few rules before you start. These five keep the chaos fun instead of annoying.
- First to five goals wins the match.
- No pausing to trash-talk with the ball in the goal mouth.
- If a ragdoll gets stuck in a goal post, restart the match — do not farm it.
- Whoever concedes kicks off the next round.
- Loser switches to the other side of the keyboard.
Tips that actually win 2-player matches
The player who arrives at the ball second usually wins the tackle, because the first player's momentum carries them past it. Slow down half a step before you kick and let the ball come to your foot.
Jumping is underrated in local play. A jump plus a kick sends the ball at a much steeper angle than a ground kick, and it is hard to defend when both players are crowded around the ball.
Finally, do not chase. Stand between the ball and your own goal with a bit of space, let your friend overrun it, then step in and kick it back over their head.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Ragdoll Football with 2 players?
Click the 2 players switch above the pitch. Player 1 uses A, D, W and S. Player 2 uses the left and right arrows, Up to jump and Down to kick. Both play on the same keyboard.
Can two players play on one keyboard?
Yes. The controls are split across the left and right sides of the keyboard so two people can share a laptop without their hands colliding.
Is there online multiplayer?
No. The game is built for local 1v1 on one device, which is why it starts instantly and never disconnects.
How many goals do you need to win?
A match is first to five goals. You can restart at any time with R, which resets the score and both ragdolls.
Can we play 2 players on a phone?
Two-player mode is designed for a shared keyboard. On a phone the touch buttons control Player 1 only, so it is best played solo on mobile.
Does the CPU play differently from a human?
The CPU chases the ball and kicks when close, but it does not plan. A human player who waits for the second touch will beat it more often than not.
